July 3, 2008 - Screenwriter, Producer, Director J.D. Feigelson announced as Special Guest of 2008 Eerie Horror Fest!

The Eerie Horror Film Festival is pleased to announce that screenwriter, producer and director J.D. Feigelson will be appearing as a special guest at their October event.

Feigelson, who has been active in the film and television industry since the late 1950's, is probably best known to horror fans as the man behind "Dark Night of the Scarecrow", a truly chilling made for TV movie from 1981, that has, over the years, gathered quite a large cult following.

The Eerie Horror Film Festival will be screening a newly remastered print of the film at their event in October with a Q&A session with Feigelson to follow.

Feigelson continues to work in Los Angeles and is a member of the Directors' Guild of America, the Writers'Guild of America, the Hollywood Radio and Television Society, and is a past member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

His motion picture and television credits include The Lake NBC movie, 1998 (writer/executive producer); Nightmare on the 13th Floor USA cable movie, 1990 (writer); Chiller CBS movie 1985 (writer/producer); "The Twilight Zone" CBS series, 1985 (director/writer of two episodes); The Covenant NBC movie/pilot, 1985 (writer/supervising producer); Cry for the Strangers CBS movies, 1982 (adaption writer); One of the Missing PBS special, 1979 (writer/producer/director); The Windsplitter independent feature, 1971 (writer/director); Red Water TBS movie, 2002; and One of the Missing re-release for PBS, 2003 (writer/producer/director).

June 19, 2008 - Rudy Scalese, Director of Development for Nala Films, to Appear as a Special Guest at the 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival

Rudy Scalese, the Director of Development for Nala films and producer of the critically acclaimed documentary, "Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher", will be appearing as a special guest at the 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival this October.

Scalese helps identify and develop material to fulfill the Nala Films production slate of four to five relatively big budget films per year as well as its lower-budget genre fare.

He recently helped oversee Nala’s development & production of the 20 million dollar production "Shelter", a Supernatural Thriller starring Julianne Moore & Jonathan Rhys Meyers which recently wrapped in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Scalese also produced the critically acclaimed Horror documentary "Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher" for Starz/Encore that ThinkFilm released on DVD.

The documentary, based upon the book by Adam Rockoff explores the infamous sub-genre that began with "Halloween" and gave birth a floodgate of films including "Friday the 13th", "Prom Night", "Terror Train" and "My Bloody Valentine" and how they continue to leave their mark on the current genre boom of films like "Saw" and "Hostel".

Prior to his position at Nala Films Scalese ran the Screamfest LA Horror Film Festival and oversaw the programming and all festival screenings along with Festival partner Academy Award Winner Stan Winston. He also worked as a manager for writers including Jake Wade Wall ("When A Stranger Calls" 06, "The Hitcher" 07) Pierce Gardner ("Lost Souls", "Dan In Real Life") and actors Brent Spiner ("Introducing Dorothy Dandridge", "Geppetto") Devon Sawa ("Idle Hands", "Final Destination") & Bokeem Woodbine ("Life", "Ray"). May 19, 2008 - The Millcreek Mall Gets Eerie May 24th!

 

Representatives from the Eerie Horror Film Festival announced today that they will be making a special appearance at The Millcreek Mall in Erie, Pa. on Saturday, May 24th from 11:00am – 7:00pm.

 

The Fest will have information available about their upcoming season as well as revealing this season’s official T-Shirt, which will be available for purchase during the afternoon.

May 6, 2008 - Pazsint Solo Exhibition Added To 2008 Festival Roster of Events

 
The Eerie Horror Fest is proud to announce the addition of progressive photographer and visual artist Nathan Pazsint to their list of 2008 special guests.

This year’s fest and the historic Warner Theater will play host to an exclusive debut exhibition of Pazsint’s newest project entitled “The Fallen Choir”, an immersive and enigmatic series Pazsint describes as “An effigy in 21 acts…”

The 2008 Festival, which will be displaying the series throughout this year’s events will also be hosting a formal reception for the artist as well as a signing event during which fans and attendees will have an opportunity to meet with Pazsint in person and purchase limited edition “Fest Only” prints as well as a book version of “The Fallen Choir” signed in person by the series creator himself.

Pazsint, whose increasingly popular and recognized body of work has included candid images of such film luminaries as John Waters and Quentin Tarantino as well a unique brand of both darkly humorous and cinematically inspired “constructed portraiture” has been exhibited extensively to both photography and pop art fans alike.

May 6, 2008 - Filmmaker and Founder of Rue Morgue Magazine Joins Growing List of Guests at 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival

The Eerie Horror Film Festival has announced that Rodrigo Gudiño, filmmaker and founder of Rue Morgue magazine, will be appearing as a special guest at their annual event this October.

Gudiño launched Rue Morgue, an independent magazine focusing on “horror in culture and entertainment", in 1997 and it has since become one of the leading and most respected horror publications in the world.

In 2000 Gudiño began programming the Cinemacabre Movie Nights in Toronto, a monthly screening of new, rare, classic and cult horror films in Toronto’s Bloor Cinema and four years later expanded the Rue Morgue brand to the country’s largest horror convention, the Rue Morgue Festival of Fear which has brought guests as diverse as Clive Barker, George Romero, Crispin Glover, Alice Cooper, Elvira, Linda Blair, Tom Savini and many more to Toronto.

In 2006 Gudiño wrote and directed his first film, "The Eyes of Edward James", which became an Official Selection of the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival and continues to tour worldwide. His second film, "The Demonology of Desire". premiered at the prestigious 2007 Worldwide Short Film Festival.

He is currently working on several feature film projects along with overseeing all things Rue Morgue.

April 22, 2008 - Actor Sid Haig Confirmed as Guest of the 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival

The Eerie Horror Film Festival announced today that veteran actor Sid Haig will be appearing at their fifth annual event this October.

Haig, perhaps best known for his role as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie's "House of 1,000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects", has appeared in over one hundred film and television programs since 1960, including "THX 1138", a science fiction film directed by a then unknown George Lucas and the Quentin Tarantino films "Jackie Brown" and "Kill Bill Vol. 2".

In the 1970's Haig appeared in many action movies, including the James Bond film "Diamonds are Forever" and the blaxploitation classics "Coffy", "Foxy Brown" and "The Big Doll House" with Pam Grier.

Haig acted with Lon Chaney, Jr. in the 1968 cult movie "Spider Baby", which has grown in popularity over the years and has made appearances in several classic television programs including "Star Trek", "Gunsmoke" and "Fantasy Island".

His most current production is "Brotherhood of Blood" where he appears as a vampire.

April 15, 2008 - Eerie Horror Film Festival to Present Film Screenings as Part of Edinboro's Big Wish Benefit

Edinboro, Pa. (4/12/08) - The Eerie Horror Film Festival announced today that they will be presenting an evening of film screenings as part of their sponsorship of "The Big Wish Benefit", a city wide fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation that takes place on April 23, in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.

Nine venues will feature entertainment and live music as well as a Chinese auction featuring prizes donated by Erie, Edinboro, and Meadville area businesses, a John Madden and Guitar Hero tournament with cash prizes, and various carnival and casino games.

Twenty eight regional bands are scheduled to perform at the benefit.

Eclectic Etcetera's Coffee House, Jack Rabbit Flats, The Pogue University Center, The Hangout, The Empty Keg, The Edinboro Hotel, The Copper Coin, and Edinboro Lanes all feature musical acts. The Boro Bar will be present an evening of karaoke.

The Eerie Horror Film Festival will showcase four movies at the Pogue University Center, including 2007's Best Feature award winner, "Paper Dolls" as well as three short films from area filmmakers.

"Paper Dolls", a dark psychological thriller involving teen angst and sasquatches, was a big hit with the audience at the 2007 Festival but is still without a distribution deal.

"This will be the only chance anyone in this area will have to see the film for awhile", said Eerie Horror Film Festival President, Greg Ropp. "It's a very well done, intense and scary movie and the filmmakers have sent over a newly re-mastered print just for this event."

The short film screenings will include Mark Steensland's "Peekers", Jason McCann's "The Beast in Me" and Monster Mark's "Bloody Inheritance". All three movies were shot entirely in the Erie County area and both Steensland and McCann have won awards for their productions

Screenings begin at 9:30pm at the Pogue University Center on the campus of Edinboro University.

Admission is $3.00. Seating is very limited. You must be over 18 years of age to attend. Proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

April 15, 2008 - Legendary Actor Kenny Miller to Appear at 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival

Veteran Hollywood actor Kenny Miller has confirmed that he will be appearing as a special guest at the 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival and Expo this October in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Miller, best known to horror and science fiction fans for his roles in the 1950's cult films "I Was A Teenage Werewolf" (with Michael Landon) and "Attack of the Puppet People", also appeared in such Hollywood classics as "East of Eden" with James Dean, Orson Welle's "Touch of Evil" and Cecil B. DeMille's production of "The Bucanneer" with Charlton Heston.

Throughout his career, which now spans six decades, Miller has worked with a literal who's who of Hollywood, including Paul Newman, Yul Brynner and "Psycho" star, Janet Leigh.

In the early 1960s he had one of the largest teen fan clubs in America and spent his free time partying with some of entertainment's biggest names, including Elvis Presley, Burt Reynolds and Connie Stevens.

"I'm really looking forward to appearing at the Eerie Horror Film Festival" said Miller, "I've heard nothing but great things about it from all of the actors I know who have been guests there."

Miller said that he's also looking forward to meeting with attendees of the Festival in October.

"I love being able to meet the fans on a one to one basis and to discuss the films I've been in and the other actors I've been fortunate to work with". He adds that he also "loves horror movies".

Born on October 15, 1931 in Springfield, Ohio, Kenny Miller, the son of a minister, broke quietly into show biz behind the backs of his parents, and relocated to California after the death of his father.

Early in his career Kenny played a singer and dancer in many teen rock 'n roll films. Miller's long list of credits include numerous guest appearances on many television programs throughout the years, from American Bandstand to a reoccurring role on the ABC series B. L. Stryker, which won him the Crystal Reel Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Kenny has written an autobiography, which he collaborated with Donald Vaughan. The first edition, which is now out of print, was titled Kenny Miller: Surviving Teenage Werewolves, Puppet People and Hollywood.

A new updated and expanded version titled Hollywood Inside & Out: The Kenny Miller Story is now available.

The Edinboro Film Series also recently announced that a portion of the ticket sales from Lyons’ own feature film debut "schism" (April 17th and 18th at Edinboro University), which was shot in the Erie area, will be donated to the series for future events.

The Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) program is a partnership initiative between local arts organizations and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), a state agency. State government funding for the arts comes through an annual appropriation by Pennsylvania’s General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Arts Council of Erie, Inc.

ABOUT THE EDINBORO FILM SERIES – Started in 2006, The Edinboro Film Series holds events on the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania campus during the academic year. January 27, 2008 - Millcreek Mall to Sponsor 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival & Expo

Erie, Pa. (01/27/08) – The Eerie Horror Film Festival revealed today that the Millcreek Mall has signed on as an official sponsor of their 2008 event.
